Tom Dorigatti has been an avid archer and Bowhunter for over 50 years. He has been hunting with a bow and arrow since he was 10 years old and started with rudimentary equipment, moved up to Recurve hunting bows, and finally on to target archery equipment in the late 1960's. Although bowhunting was his primary objective, target archery quickly took a front seat for the times when hunting season wasn't open. Tom has been a member of the National Field Archery Association for 44 years and has actively participated in tournaments or on ranges in no fewer than 37 of the contiguous United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, and the Azores. He has also been involved in managing archery leagues and tournaments, up to and including NFAA Sectional events since 1968. Tom has taken numerous small and big game animals with bow and arrow, the largest being a bull elk which he took with a 45 pound Recurve bow in 1971. He also has several mule deer, pronghorn, and white-tail deer to his credit. Tom has an Associate of Arts degree in Secondary Education, a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with majors in Secondary Education and biology and minors in Physical Science and French, and a Master's Degree in Teaching and Leadership. He also served in the United States Air Force as an Instructor Navigator and Standardization/Evaluation Navigator in KC-135A jet refueling tankers for Strategic Air Command. He has 22 years' experience in Private Industry as an instructor, manager, and quality assurance manager. In addition, Tom has 10 years' junior high and high school teaching experience in subjects ranging from biology, physical science, applied science, human anatomy and physiology, earth science and French. He has written numerous articles for Archery Focus magazine and also written numerous archery and bicycling related puzzles for Archery Focus Magazine and others. He is also author of a complete book of archery related puzzles soon to be released and hopes to write more books of puzzles.
Tom's newest book, "ProActive Archery" will be published soon. There will also be a book of bicycling related puzzles, "The Puzzled Bicyclist" published before Christmas, 2012.
Tom is also heavily involved in exercising with his greatest involvement being in competitive racquetball, and long distance road bicycling. Tom has logged over 7,300 and 6,600 miles in just the past two years respectively. He has taken week long bicycling tours in Colorado, Georgia, Florida, Wyoming, and Wisconsin. He will be out and about on the road again in 2012, has taken a week long tour into the Door County area of Wisconsin, and of course has been on the local roads in Central Illinois as much as possible. During the riding season, Tom can be found either at the archery range during bad weather, or out on the road bicycle.
